Not Just a Job — a Ministry

We are looking to fill all of the following positions with missionaries, rather than paid employees, meaning you would raise your own financial support.  We would train you and work with you to help you accomplish this goal.  At CLC we take a low-key approach to fundraising, working to inform people about the ministry and then giving them the opportunity to partner with us if they believe the Lord would have them do so. 

Raising support may seem like a rather daunting prospect to some people, but we've found that many are surprised to discover how graciously the Lord provides for those He calls into missionary service! 



Retail Assistant Store Manager - USA
This position will provide support to the running of a CLC Bookstore location and will report to the store manager.  They will be involved in serving customers, doing daily banking, ordering products, supervising staff as necessary, opening and closing the store and merchandising products.  In addition they will function as the team leader in the absence of the store manager.  This position requires familiarity with computers and preferably point of sale software.  Prior Christian bookstore experience would be a plus.

Desktop Publisher/Typesetter - USA
This person will typeset our books for purposes of digital and print distribution. They will be required to use Adobe InDesign and need experience with this or any similar program. This position requires significant interaction with the editorial department and a keen attention to details. Familiarity with XML and HTML is a plus.

Retail Store Manager - USA
This person will be responsible for the overall store operations of one of our CLC Bookcenters. They will be responsible for staffing, scheduling, budgeting, motivating their team and achieving goals set by the ministry. Retail management experience is required for this position and prior bookstore experience is a plus.

Retail Customer Service Associate - USA
This person will serve customers utilizing an automated point of sale system and a working knowledge of the books and other resources that we supply. They will need to be self-motivated, pleasant, outgoing and an avid reader of Christian books as they discern customer needs and find solutions. Prior experience with computers and/or work in a retail setting would be a plus.

Editor - USA
This person will work to take a manuscript from submission to production. This position requires a solid grasp of English grammar and punctuation rules. They will work to ensure accuracy and consistency with house styleguide. Ideally, they will have prior experience as a book editor. They will also participate in manuscript evaluation and book acquisition.

Maintenance Associate - USA
This person will function as part of our maintenance team in the upkeep, repair and maintenance of all CLC facilities in the USA including our 22 acre headquarters campus and Christian bookstore locations in Philadelphia and South Jersey. Basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills would be a real asset.

Graphic Designer - USA
This person will design websites, brochures, post cards, etc. This position requires a good working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. This person will be working in a team environment and will need to accept creative input from multiple sources. Prior experience in web design would be desirable.

Website/E-Commerce Manager - USA
This person will oversee web development in current and future web sites. They will coordinate e-commerce initiatives and will be responsible to grow this into a sustainable unit for our ministry. This position requires knowledge of web-based marketing, business development and web site design. It also requires a good knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, XML, and Flash. MySQL would be a plus.

Shipping and Receiving Associate - USA
This person will work to fulfill customer orders for Christian books from our warehouse. The position involves picking and packing of books and shipping to all parts of the world. This person will receive goods into the warehouse and optimize use of warehouse space by regularly moving skids and boxes. Forklift experience would be a plus.

Publicist/Marketing Associate - USA
This person will work with our authors to utilize existing platforms and contacts while also developing new avenues of publicity for their books. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and persuasive communication ability. Day-to-day work will involve influencing outside partners and media entities by giving exposure to our authors and books.

Bookkeeper - USA
This person will be involved in doing data entry, financial reports and processing of invoices, receipts and donations. A basic knowledge of bookkeeping is required and a working knowledge of accounting principles would be a plus. This position requires experience using Microsoft Excel. QuickBooks would be a plus.

Publisher - USA
This person will be responsible for the overall functioning and success of our publishing house. They will oversee acquisitions, editorial, typesetting, marketing and sales. They will be responsible for setting and meeting annual budget goals and maintaining profitability. Love of reading and a passion for drawing people to a life of maturity in Christ is a must. Prior experience as a publisher in the Christian book industry is desired.

Administrative Assistant - USA
This position will serve the administrative needs of various departments at our US headquarters. It also requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and good organizational skills. Daily activities will include typing, filing, e-mail communication, event coordinating, phone coverage, and paperwork processing. A service mindset and the willingness to be flexible are essential.

Missions Customer Service Associate/Project Coordinator - USA
This person will help overseas teams in working with US suppliers, they will help with member care of overseas missionaries, update Facebook, coordinate updating of the website and assist the Director as needed.

Volunteer Coordinator - USA
This person will recruit and train volunteers for the CLC Ministry at the headquarters and in the book store locations. They will work with the various department heads to determine needs for volunteers and coordinate the scheduling of the volunteers as needed. In some cases they will oversee the work of the volunteers as well.

Proof Reader/Copy Editor - USA
This person will proof read books that are being prepared for publication. They will work closely with the editorial department and must have a keen eye for details. In addition this person will be looking for grammatical mistakes and inconsistencies with our style guide. A degree in English and love for reading are a plus.

Publishing Sales Manager - USA
This person will be responsible for growing the sales of CLC Publications titles and communicating with the various channels of distribution. They must be creative and have good written and verbal communication skills. Prior sales experience, particularly in the Christian publishing industry would be a plus.

Christian Book Link Coordinator - USA
This person will be responsible for developing and growing the Christian Book Link program into a fully fledged department of the ministry. They will communicate the needs to churches and individuals, will coordinate the sorting and storage of books and prepare books for shipment to locations around the world. This position requires the ability to supervise volunteers and other staff members and to be able to communicate well verbally and in writing.

Accountant - USA
This position is responsible for the day to day accounting needs of the ministry including, but not limited to bill payments, general ledger, bank reconciliations, donor receipting, preparing deposits, and dealing with vendors. This position requires a working knowledge of accounting principles and some prior accounting experience. A degree in accounting would be preferred.

Finance Manager - USA
This person is responsible for the overall financial oversight of the ministry. They will supervise the bookkeeper and accountant and will provide regular monthly reports to the Executive Committee and department heads. In addition, they will do analysis on the financial health of the ministry and make recommendations for improvements. They will be responsible for researching, suggesting and implementing cost cutting measures wherever possible.

Christian Bookstore Customer Service - Canada
