Called to Reach the Arab World

Reading Bible

Monthir’s Testimony

I was born and raised in a conservative Muslim family, reading the Quran daily and performing my Islamic duties such as fasting and prayer. I was extremely religious but had no real relationship with the God I was worshipping. I always felt that there was a barrier separating me from God.

Despite my external religiousness, there was an emptiness within me, and I was a slave to bad habits. I couldn’t break free from those habits by fasting, praying, or trying to lead a spiritual life. What I truly needed was a heavenly force that would free me and break me loose from the bondage of sin.

Then I read in the Quran about the Lord “Isa (Jesus)” the Christ. He was wonderful and magnificent, the Word and Spirit of God, our intercessor in this life and the life to come. The Quran also says that He performed great miracles unmatched by anyone else. All of that made me wonder, who is this “Isa (Jesus)”? Is He a mere Prophet or something greater? Why does the Quran speak so highly of Him?

With all my questions, I wanted to search for the truth no matter the cost. The answer came to me from the Quran itself, when I stumbled across a passage that directed those who “don’t understand” to go to the readers of “the Book from before”. This verse was the key for me, as I realized that these “readers” were the Jews and Christians, as the Quran called them “the People of the Book” because they have the Torah and the Injeel (Gospel).

I hurried out and bought a copy of the Holy Bible and started reading it.  As I read it, I knew that the words of our Lord Jesus could not be the words of a mere man; for no man or prophet dare say that He is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” and that “No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6. I decided to study the life of our Lord Jesus Christ in more depth, as I was overwhelmed by a great passion to know more about Him.

I read in the Bible that Jesus Christ came to the world to save mankind from sin, and to set him free from bondage to the Devil. I realized the truth of the Gospel in my personal life, and I found in the sinless person of our Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice the solution to the problem of sin in my life. For in His crucifixion is the atonement for all my sins and iniquities. I decided to seek him and his precious blood for shelter because He is the one who died instead of me and shed His holy blood for me!

I couldn’t achieve salvation on my own, not by doing good works, fasting, or anything else for that matter. So, I decided to submit my life to Him. On that very day, I bowed my head and asked the Lord to forgive me for my transgressions. Finally, I accepted Jesus as my Savior!

The Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry

Founded in 1998, the Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry (ABOM) began as a website to extend the Word of God to the unreached in the Arab world. This mission continued as the organization merged with Biblical Missions International in 2003.

ABOM’s first major project was the publication of the Arabic Bible on the Internet. In the early days of the Internet, browser support was unavailable for the Arabic font, prompting ABOM to render every letter in image format. This project made the Arabic Bible accessible for the first time to the Arab and Muslim world!

Pray for the Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry as they work towards their continued goal of seeing vibrant and reproducing churches in the Arab world and among large Muslim communities in North America.
