Editor’s note: Our goal with this entry is to encourage you to pray for the Muslims around the world to find freedom in Christ.
Muslims throughout the world will be abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset May 6th through June 4th this year during Ramadan, a month of obligatory fasting and spiritual piety for followers of Islam. Muslims of all ages will strive to practice extreme self-discipline in their speech, thoughts, and behavior as they fast and try to resist all wrong doing in pursuit of righteousness during those 30 days. While many promises to live in purity are made during Ramadan, many are also broken in the weakness of the flesh.
The life of a believer in Christ is filled with promises, as well, promises from God about what has been accomplished, what is taking place, and what is yet to come in the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:20 assures us that these are not empty promises “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ”. (NLT) What confidence the Christian has in the faithfulness of God and the work of Jesus Christ!
At the heart of Islam there is a denial of the true identity of Jesus Christ, which leaves an emptiness in the heart of every Muslim. Join with us this Ramadan as we pray for that emptiness to be filled with the blessings that come only through Jesus.
How we praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every blessing in heaven because we belong to Christ.
